Clotàs 2007
Name wine: Clotàs 2007
Type: oak-aged red wine
Winery: Vicente Flors, Castellon
AVIN: 9085328908437
Used on event: Vino Valencia Wine Night at Alter Ego, April 21, 2010
Clotàs 2007 is the first wine produced by Vicente Flors and this limited production of only 5.000 bottles is made from Tempranillo only.
The harvest is done by hand after a rigorous selection cluster to cluster, the grapes are transported in crates to avoid damaging the fruit.
Before the grapes go to the fermentation tanks for the cold maceration, a second selection of the fruit is done. The malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels and lasts for 13 months.
Just like Aranleón, this wine has a label with braille. This wine really needs some time to breathe before the full roundness of the flavors come to live in your mouth, therefore opening the bottle approximately 30 minutes before consumption is recommended.
Vino Valencia Tasting Notes
Appearance: Dark red, tears.
Nose: Ripe fruits (plums, blackberry, cherry), balsamic, roasted spices.
Palate: Round, dark fruits, perhaps in the faint distance some licorice.
Alter Ego food thoughts: Ravioli, filled with truffle and mushrooms.

Appearance: deep garnet, long legs.
Nose: Lots of black fruits, plums, blackcurrant and morello cherry. Some bitterness which may be over-ripe fruit.
Palate: Very full bodied, a little too much tannin, plenty of fruit but not quite balanced for me.
